Leadership

From 2012 through 2025, Mark was CEO and CTO of OpenText, a global leader in information management focused on cloud, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. Over his tenure, he grew revenue from $1 billion to nearly $6 billion through organic growth and strategic acquisitions such as Micro Focus (including HP Software), EMC's Documentum, GXS and Carbonite. He was previously CEO of Silicon Graphics International, a leader in high-performance computing, and a member of Oracle's executive management team.

He serves on the boards of Dick's Sporting Goods, where he chairs the Audit Committee, and SentinelOne, and previously served on the boards of Avery Dennison, Hamilton Insurance Group and OpenText Corporation.

Investing

Mark invests in AI-first businesses and the builders behind them, and advises private equity firms on strategic investments.

Giving

Mark's philanthropic passions are opera and the fight against blood cancer. He serves on the boards of the San Francisco Opera, where he chairs the Finance Committee, and Blood Cancer United, where he chairs the Investment Committee. He believes opera fuses story and music like no other art form, and he works to create new productions and expand opera to new audiences. A survivor of acute myeloid leukemia, he is committed to extending and improving the lives of people diagnosed with blood cancers.

Mark is the author of more than ten books on business and technology and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Saint Michael’s College. He enjoys music of every kind, nature, golf, baseball, travel and numismatics. He lives in Silicon Valley, California.
